|
|
How

Walk are
rarely cancelled however they are subject to cancellation at the
discretion of the Leader in the event of inclement weather. A
telephone call to the Leader may save a wasted journey, should it
be necessary to cancel a walk.
|
|
Which
group should I start walking with
|
The
choice is yours, you can walk with whichever group you wish and on
a day that suits you best. If you are an experienced walker start

less experienced start with a Thursday or Sunday 'B' walk or a
Tuesday 'A' walk.
|
|
Can I
bring my Dog
|
Dogs
are allowed on walks at the discretion of the leader. On walks
where dogs are allowed they should be kept under control to the
leader's satisfaction at all times and where specific conditions
apply e.g. on new access land those regulations must be complied
with. They
are not allowed on coach trips.
|
|
Dogs and
Access Land
|
We have
noticed that some of our walks cross areas from which dogs are now
banned under new public access legislation. We would not know
in advance of this, as we are only aware of this as we see
the signs on our walks. You would need to turn back or find your
own alternative route if this were the case on a walk

Technical
Questions
|
Answers
|
|
How
do I read a Grid Reference
|
The
easiest way to remember is to say along the corridor before you go
up the stairs.
All
Ordnance Survey maps are covered in a series of blue grid lines.
These grid lines help you pinpoint an exact location anywhere on
the map by giving a unique number known as a grid reference. The
vertical lines are called eastings, as they go up in value as you
travel east on the map. The horizontal lines are called northings,
since they go up in value as you travel north on the map. If you
want to pinpoint an exact place on a map, such as a walk start
point, you will need to use a six-figure grid reference, which you
get by putting together the numbers of the easting and northing
that cross in its bottom left-hand corner. For
a more comprehensive answer please select this link
